The St. Patrick-St. Vincent High girls tennis team picked up a victory over Vallejo High on Tuesday afternoon, winning 5-2 at home.
The Bruins picked up singles wins from Vy Lee, Jessica Clark and Melissa Mungura. St. Pat’s also had doubles wins from the teams of Ashley Thompson playing with Lauren Caburnay, as well as a default win.
Lee won her match in the No. 1 singles spot against Vallejo’s Martha Ornales 6-1, 6-1. Clark took the No. 2 singles battle against Nassia Okungbowa 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 in what was the closest match of the day. Mungura won the No. 3 singles match 6-4, 6-1 against Vallejo’s Jasmin Virgen.
Vallejo’s Salet Compista won the No. 4 singles match for Vallejo by a score of 6-3, 6-3.
Thompson and Caburnay won the No. 1 doubles match against Anyloh Taylor and Diana Virgin 6-4, 6-2.
The lone Vallejo doubles win came from Raphie Tshibasa and Kaylee Tan by a score of 7-5, 7-5.
St. Pat’s improved to 1-4 overall and 1-0 in the Tri-County Athletic League with the win.
The Bruins played Wednesday against Pinole Valley in a match that was rescheduled due to last week’s heat wave.
